Suma Member Recruitment
Class C Driver – Greenford UB6
We’re pleased to announce that we are recruiting new members to strengthen our Greenford Distribution Hub, and bring new ideas and skills to our growing worker co-operative.
We’re particularly keen to hear from people with a passion for co-operative working. We specifically require all applicants for this position to hold a class C LGV licence and full driver CPC , but we’re also looking for people with the right qualities to be members – people who can develop the business and contribute to our management while taking on multiple roles.
We believe we can teach the right person most things that we do.
As a trainee member you would be expected to demonstrate your commitment to Suma while working in a variety of roles, starting with the basics of our distribution business- delivering to our customers. We move lots of boxes every day – around our warehouse, onto trucks, around the UK and increasingly overseas. As a Suma delivery driver you will work hard and be the main point of contact for our customers.
Suma makes use of people’s existing skills but also helps to develop them in new and challenging roles. Our distribution centre is growing and you will learn skills like routing runs, coordinating the office and loading vehicles with a forklift truck. You will also visit our main site in Elland, West Yorkshire to train in all areas of our business.
We value diversity. Our workforce is made up of people from all walks of life with a commitment to ethical values and collective working. Membership of Suma doesn’t require financial investment – apart from £1 for a share certificate – what it does require is hard work and dedication to working collectively.
Do you share our values and would you rise to the challenge of joining our co-operative? If so, Suma may be for you. It’s hard work and not all a bed of roses, but, we believe that 39 years of hard work and dedication has built a strong worker co-operative with enviable pay and conditions.
Equal pay and equality are core principles at Suma, whether you’re a student helping out for the summer or have been here from the start like Jim we all earn the same. A full time 40-hour worker will currently earn circa £32k plus benefits; healthy pension contributions, 38 days holiday, discounted staff shopping, free meal provided each day, flexible working…
Closing date for applications is 5pm Friday 28th October.
Interviews will take place from 12th November.
All applications must be on our application form – you can hand write it, type it, post it, submit it by email, whatever is best for you – as long as it’s on our own application form downloadable from our jobs page. CVs will unfortunately not be accepted.
Our motto is ‘All together better’ – What would you bring to Suma?
